ABS Quality Evaluations
Awards APCO Highest Recognition for Energy Efficiency (ISO 50001:2011)

APCO Among the First Companies in Canada to Receive the Certification December 12, 2012.

ABS Quality Evaluations, Inc. recently awarded ISO 50001:2011 certification to APCO Industries Co. Limited (APCO). APCO—a Toronto-based industrial chemicals processor and distributor of 76 years—is among the first organizations in Canada to gain this certification. ISO 50001:2011 is a new international standard specifying requirements for Energy Management Systems and is a voluntary framework for any type of organization using energy-industry, buildings, and public sector.

The ISO 50001:2011 certification confirms that the plant operates a robust energy management system that calls for actions such as establishing an energy baseline, demonstrating energy reductions, creating energy goals and action plans, and managing significant energy-consuming equipment.

David Grierson, Vice President, APCO says: "Achieving this recognition demonstrates our commitment of building energy management into our everyday business practice and a framework for promoting energy efficiency throughout our organization. We thank Mr. George Yonemori, P.Eng, and the rest of the APCO team for their efforts and dedication in development and implementation of APCO's energy management system.

ABS Quality Evaluations Inc. Vice President of Americas, Dominic Townsend says: It is evident from APCO's certification that the organization takes a proactive stance in reducing its environmental footprint and ensuring it has established a benchmark to promote energy efficiency throughout the supply chain.
